A Year to Be Grateful For: Lessons From 2024

A lively indoor party scene with people toasting champagne glasses amid confetti and warm lights.

It’s January 2nd, and here we are, standing at the threshold of a brand-new year. But before diving headfirst into resolutions, plans, and dreams, I find myself looking back at 2024, not to dwell on the past, but to reflect on what it taught us. Because, let’s face it, 2024 wasn’t always easy, but it had its moments.

The Year That Challenged Us

2024 gave us plenty to think about. From the floods in Valencia that devastated homes and communities, to countless moments of global and personal struggle, it often felt like the world was a little heavier than usual.

But even in those dark times, there were sparks of light. In Valencia, neighbors came together in ways that brought hope amidst the water. They formed human chains to clear debris, offered shelter to strangers, and reminded us all of what community truly means.

This was the pattern of 2024 : challenges that tested us, followed by moments that restored our faith in each other.

The Quiet Gifts of 2024

If I’ve learned anything from the past year, it’s that even in the most difficult moments, there’s something to be grateful for. Not just the obvious joys, like celebrations or milestones, but the quiet, often unnoticed things.

Gratitude for the people who showed up when we needed them. Gratitude for the small wins that kept us moving forward. Gratitude for the resilience we didn’t know we had until we had no choice but to use it.

And yes, gratitude even for the lessons we didn’t want to learn.

Stepping Into 2025

Now, as we embrace 2025, I feel a mix of emotions. Excitement for what’s ahead, yes, but also a quiet acknowledgment of the weight we’re still carrying from the past year. That’s okay. Moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting, it means learning, growing, and carrying those lessons with us.

This year, I’m not making grand resolutions. Instead, I’m choosing to try. To try to be more present, more patient, and more grateful. To try to see the light even in difficult moments. To try, simply, to show up.

My Wish for You in 2025

To everyone reading this, thank you for being part of this journey. My wish for you this year is simple :

May you find joy in the unexpected, strength in the challenges, and love in the connections you make. May you allow yourself to try, fail, and grow. And may you always remember that even when life feels heavy, there’s beauty in the effort, in the messy, imperfect art of living.

Welcome to 2025. Let’s make it a year to remember, not because it’s perfect, but because we showed up for it.

Does this feel more aligned with where we are today? 😊
